Tarangire National Park is in Tanzania’s Manyara Region. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park. The Tarangire River is the primary source of fresh water for wild animals in the Tarangire Ecosystem during the annual dry season.

Day 2: After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, depart for Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best places to see the “Big Five.” Enjoy the breathtaking views as you descend into the crater, home to diverse wildlife. Spend the morning exploring, with opportunities to observe lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, and rhinos up close. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the hippo pool picnic area, watching hippos while you eat. In the afternoon, continue your game drive, taking in the stunning landscapes framed by the crater walls. As the day winds down, ascend back out of the crater and return to Arusha, concluding your safari adventure.

Tarangire National Park is located in northern Tanzania, just south of Lake Manyara National Park and a short drive from “Geneva of Africa”- Arusha.
Mostly from June to October is the best time to visit Tarangire National Park. The region experiences its dry season during this month, which creates the ideal conditions for optimal game viewing.
Common animals found in the park include giraffe, hippo, dik dik, impala, eland, grant’ gazelle, vervet monkey banded mongoose, olive baboon and the abundant ones include elephant, buffalo, zebra and wildebeest. white Rhino and black Rhino are not present. Leopards are also found here.
The Park is home to several dry-country antelope species, such as the rare fringe-eared oryx and the peculiar, long-necked gerenuk.
The big 5 animals are also present including the lions.
There are over 500 bird species recorded to inhabit Tarangire National Park, with notable bird species including the Ashy Starling, Red and Yellow Barbe.
Throughout the year, Tarangire National park weather is generally warm and dry, with the daytime temperatures ranging from 24-30 degrees Celsius while the night temperatures can drop to as low as 13-18 degrees Celsius. Tarangire National Park can be visited all year through, for various activities in the park.
