Overview

Whitewashed, three stories tall, set in terraced gardens and possessing along its balconies low fort-like walls, the Beach House design is both a nod to local Arabic influences, and to the imposing Mediterranean builds encountered in the likes of Monaco.

Inside, on the first floor, it manages to fuse an almost ancient Egyptian effect – clean lines, columns, a marble finish, borderless pool, giant-sized seating flanked by stone steps – with a chic take on traditional Swahili decor. Cool, spacious, unfussy, it is both opulent and modern.

The rest of the building consists of a kitchen, a bar, numerous private terraces and five en-suite bedrooms, one of which is a triple.
