The best time for wildlife is the May-Nov dry season, but there are good reasons to visit during other months.

Some of the animal found here include impala, zebra, giraffe and the Waterbuck. The Tsessebe and Warthog dot the savannah and Hippo concentrate in the deeper channels. You have also sightings of lions hunting buffaloes.

Over 380 species of bird are found in the concession, in the summer many migrant species are present. Pel’s fishing-owl is regularly seen, with other specials including wattled crane, slaty egret, chirping cisticola, fan-tailed widowbird, pink-backed pelican and possibly rosy-throated longclaw.
