Overview

In the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta this exclusive concession of 77 000 acres is home to only three camps where the Duba Concession (NG23) is found, The concession is operated by Great Plains Conservation in partnership with the Okavango Community Trust which represents five villages in the Okavango Panhandle.

    The best time for wildlife is the May-Nov dry season, but there are good reasons to visit during other months.

  • Animals

    Some of the animal found here include impala, zebra, giraffe and the Waterbuck. The Tsessebe and Warthog dot the savannah and Hippo concentrate in the deeper channels. You have also sightings of lions hunting buffaloes.

  • Birding

    Over 380 species of bird are found in the concession, in the summer many migrant species are present. Pel’s fishing-owl is regularly seen, with other specials including wattled crane, slaty egret, chirping cisticola, fan-tailed widowbird, pink-backed pelican and possibly rosy-throated longclaw. Also expect jacanas, saddle-billed storks, ibises, spoonbills and wade

     

  • Weather

    The hottest months are between October and January, the dry season in Botswana is between April and November, depending on the region
