Addo Elephant National Park is a diverse wildlife conservation park situated close to Gqeberha in South Africa and is one of the country’s 20 national parks. It currently ranks third in size after Kruger National Park and the Kgalagadi Trans frontier Park.

June – September. Little rain.
October – March. The park gets crowded during school holidays.
September – April. Warmer nights and mornings.
June – August. Cold nights.
The park is home to more than 600 elephants, 400 Cape buffaloes, over 48 endangered East African black rhinos (Diceros bicornis michaeli).
Some of the animals found on the reserve include the following common ones the Giraffe, Hippo, Zebra and Wildbeest. The White Rhino is occasionally seen and the rare is the Black Rhino. Cats are also found like the Lions and the Leopards including Hyenas.
From a birding perspective, Addo Elephant National Park has an incredibly rich avifauna with as many as 450 bird species recorded from the park
Addo Elephant’s bird watching is best during the migratory season, when birds from Europe and north Africa are present (November to April),
December, January & February – These are the warmest months with afternoon temperatures reaching 29°C/84°F. Mornings are comfortable at about 16°C/61°F. December and January have less rain, but this picks up a bit in February. March & April – March is the wettest month, but it seldom rains for days on end
