Overview

The Sabi Sands Game Reserve, officially known as the Sabi Sands Wiltuin, is a collection of private game reserves. Located in the north east of South Africa, the area is bordered by the Kruger national park to the south and East, and the Manyeleti Game Reserve to the north.

    Sabi Sand Game Reserve is located adjacent to the Kruger National Park in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga, South Africa and within easy travelling distance from Johannesburg.

    Winter is mostly preferred, though the reserve offers excellent wildlife viewing all year round. However, some travellers prefer the autumn and winter months (March through August) as the bush is less dense, resulting in better visibility for wildlife viewing.

    Some of the mammals to be seen in the Sabi Sands include Aardvark, African Wild Cat, Chacma Baboon, Bushbuck, Buffalo, Lesser Bushbaby, Caracal and Cheetah.

    With more than 300 bird species on its list, Sabi Sands is a great birding destination, Notable Birds in Sabi Sands include the following the common ones Bateleur, Black-bellied bustard, Burchell’s coucal, Comb duck and Red-billed oxpecker. In spring and summer months (September through February) offers excellent birding opportunities

  • Weather

    Wet Season, October to April (Summer). Summertime can be hot and humid and at times to an uncomfortable level. Temperatures often reach 40°C/104°F
    The winter season runs from May to October. It’s the coolest and driest period especially May through July and the most comfortable time to go on safari
