Pilanesberg Game Reserve

The Pilanesberg Game Reserve is located north of Rustenburg in the North West Province of South Africa.

The best time to visit the Pilanesberg is from the middle of July to the middle of October (during late winter, spring or early summer).

Most of the large animal species of southern Africa live in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve today, includes lions, elephants, black rhinos, white rhinos, Cape buffaloes, leopards, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, hippos and crocodiles.

Pilanesberg Game Reserve is a birders paradise with over 300 species being recorded. The best time for bird viewing is the summer months where one can one record over 80 species in a single day.

Temperatures range from a typical 15°C/59°F in the morning to 29°C/84°F in the afternoon. December, January & February – December and January are the wettest months, characterized by torrential downpours in the afternoon
