Matusadona National Park

Matusadona National Park is a national park in northern Zimbabwe situated on the southern shore of Lake Kariba.

The best time to go to Matusadona National Park is from May to October during the dry season.

A healthy variety of mammal species occur within Matusadona, including lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, elephant, hippo and an impressive variety of antelope species.

The best time to visit Matusadona National Park for wildlife viewing is from June to October, which is during the dry season. This is when the animals can often be found at the shores of Lake Kariba and can easily be seen through the thinning vegetation.

The birdlife in Matusadona is good all year, but at its best from November to April. This is the nesting season for resident birds, as well as the time of arrival of migratory birds from Europe and northern Africa. From May to October, when the bush has dried out, is the best time for viewing wildlife.

Matusadona National Park has a warm to hot climate. September to April is hot, while May to August is cooler. Sunshine often follows the afternoon rains that take place during the Wet season (November to March). During the Dry season (April to October) bright, sunlit skies are normal.
