Indigenous Gardens
Well manicured pathways link the chalets with the central lodge. Marvel at the extra ordinary indigenous gardens hosting over 60 species of aloes. While strolling from the chalets, you may come across duiker, zebra and guinea fowl that roam around the lodge.
Bush Camp – self Catering
Our Bush Camp is a rustic getaway, further from the madding crowd in the heart of the bush. Close by is a dam frequently visited by the Cape buffalo where they enjoy wallowing in the mud. Marlboro storks and other birdlife are seen frequently at the dam too.
There are 5 Gemsbok tents, simply furnished each with 2 beds and a side table. They are made up of linen and duvets. Self-catering facilities include a big braai pit, grid area, and tripod to hang pots and kettle over the fire; kitchen fully stocked with utensils and a 2 plate gas cooker and 2 fridges with a small deep freeze section.
Wood is supplied for the duration of your stay, replenished daily.
There are 2 ablution facilities with shower, toilet and basin. The geyser is a form of donkey boiler, called a Rocket. You need to make your own fire for the Rocket, a decent fire will heat the water up in 15 minutes. The water is drinkable, it comes from our trusted borehole.
While taking a shower, you have the opportunity to view game at the small watering trough, encourages the animals to drink close by including the herd of Buffalo, who cruise by inquisitively. But don’t fear, there is an electric fence for guest’s protection. For your safety from leopard and buffalo, walking around the bush is not permitted, and driving on the trails too, unless one of our trackers accompanies you.
The rest of the camp is solar and gas energized. An electric point is available nearby for those campers with electric gadgets. Lighting is provided in the form of solar Consol jars and the moon of course!

Cultural Tours
Mlilwane
World renowned and respected anthropologist, Graham Stewart, manages and conducts daily cultural tours of DumaZulu and has been closely associated with the Zulu nation, their culture and heritage since 1967. His Zulu team has strived to authentically capture customs and traditions practiced during the reign of the famous Zulu King Shaka. DumaZulu is the only cultural kraal in Zululand to have been personally opened by a Zulu King, his majesty King Goodwill Zwelethini kaBhekuzulu, a direct descendant of King Shaka Zulu, bestowing a great honour upon the Kraal and thus placing the Royal Zulu seal of approval on the kraal’s authenticity and objectives.
The Kraal with over 50 residents form part of the “Living museum” and carry out age old manufacturing traditions including spear, shield and clay pot making, basket weaving, intricate bead work and Sangoma bone throwing. The cultural experience culminates in spectacular and vibrant Zulu dancing. Adjacent to the Kraal is the main dining area, Shebeen (bar), a Zulu artifact curio shop, an indigenous snake pit and a crocodile park with one of the largest crocodiles measuring 4 meters and weighing 350 kilograms.
