Mali’s cultural treasures include the Great Mosque of Djenné and Dogon Country; Djenné’s old town and the Bandiagara Escarpment are both listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As well as this there are many lesser-known highlights, such as villages known for their handicrafts and local festivals.
October, November, December and January are the best time to visit Mali. This is the dry season, but the harmattan has yet to fully kick in, so it’s the most pleasant time to travel. The harmattan wind blows down from the Sahara in January, February, March, April and May.
October and November offer the lowest prices on hotels in Mali, with most being concentrated in the capital Bamako. September to November are the least busy months to go, with fewer crowds and affordable rates on hotels, too.

February to June is considered the more hot and dry period, whereas June to November is slightly cooler and more dry. March through May are the hottest months with average temperatures around 90 degrees and the temperature often climbs several degrees past 100.
