The highlight of a visit to the Murchison Falls National Park during the Highlights of Uganda safari is viewing the powerful falls. The waters from the Victoria Nile create a 43-meter-high waterfall which you will view during an exciting 3-hour morning boat cruise. During game drives, you will explore the diverse vegetation and discover the rich wildlife that call the woodlands, savannah and riverine forests home including the rare shoebill stork.
Kibale Forest National Park forms a wildlife corridor of 180 kilometres with the adjoining Queen Elizabeth National Park and offers a protected, tropical rainforest teeming with unique flora and wildlife, including over 1,000 habituated chimpanzees and several other primate species. You will explore the Bigodi Swamp on foot to get close to the exotic birds that find shelter here.
Your Uganda safari includes two nights at the beautiful Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park boasts one of the world’s highest biodiversity ratings and offers rainforests, swamps, crater lakes, and a lush savannah that is home to nearly 100 mammal species and almost 600 species of birds. During a game drive in the Ishasha sector look out for the famous tree-climbing lions! Chimpanzee trekking in the Kalinzu Forest is another exciting experience and you will spend the morning of day 7 trekking these primates on foot through the forest.
Bwindi Forest National Park is home to many of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, who feed on roots, leaves and fruits from the park’s many tree and fern species. Gorilla trekking in the Bwindi Forest is an unforgettable experience. You’ll also have the opportunity to interact with the women of the Buhoma community, weaving baskets and learning about their way of life.
The park consists of a series of swamp-fringed lakes, in fact, wetlands make up 20% of the park. Lake Mburo which forms part of a 50km-long wetland system linked by a swamp, is home to 350 bird species as well as zebras, impalas, elands, buffalos, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi and reedbuck.
No Uganda safari will be complete without a photo op at the Equator. Stand at the point where Earth is divided into the Northern and Southern hemispheres at 0 degrees latitude; halfway between the North and South poles.

Meet and greet at the Airport, transfer to your hotel. Your Uganda safari adventure begins here and there couldn’t be a better introduction to Uganda than with a stay at Entebbe! Situated on the shores of Lake Victoria, enjoy the beaches of Africa’s largest lake and at your leisure, visit the busy markets, the Entebbe Botanical Garden with it’s diverse collection of plants, birds and primates and the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary for orphaned chimps.
On day 2 of the Highlights of Uganda tour, you will be met and collected from your hotel in Entebbe and driven to Murchison Falls. Look out for the only wild rhinos in Uganda at the Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch. We will enjoy a picnic lunch here before continuing the drive to the spectacular Murchison Falls, located within one of Uganda’s oldest conservation areas.
Murchison Falls National Park is not just known for its waterfall but also for it’s wildlife. After an early breakfast we go in search of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hartebeest and oribi. A highlight of any visit to Murchison Falls Conservation Area is the magnificent Murchison Falls. A cheese and wine boat cruise will provide you with the best view of the falls. Return to the lodge for lunch, followed by an evening game drive.
Today you’ll trek chimpanzees in the magical Budongo Forest and witness the impressive giant mahogany trees of up to 60m tall. In the afternoon you will drive via the Albertine Escarpment of the western Rift Valley en-route to Hoima.
After an early breakfast, you will depart for Kibale National Park which contains one of the loveliest tracts of tropical forest in Uganda. In the afternoon we head off to the Bigodi Swamp for a guided birding safari. Look out for the shining blue kingfisher, blue throated roller and other rare species.
During our morning game drive we will witness the dramatic landscape of the Crater Lakes and in the afternoon we move on to the Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to nearly 100 mammal species and almost 600 species of birds and also the famous tree-climbing lions!
Today is filled with adventure! After breakfast, we go on an exciting morning chimpanzee trek in Kalinzu forest and in the afternoon we go on a boat excursion on the Kazinga Channel which connects Lake Edward with Lake George and boasts large concentrations of hippos and Nile crocodiles.
After breakfast, we try to spot the tree-climbing lions during our drive through the Ishasha sector, en-route to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. We arrive at our Bwindi accommodation in the afternoon. The rest of the afternoon can be spent at your leisur
The day has arrived for the unforgettable gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to learn basket weaving with the women of the Buhoma community.
We leave the gorillas of Bwindi behind and drive to Lake Mburo National Park where we enjoy a late afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo. This impressive park consists of a series of swamp-fringed lakes and is home to 350 bird species as well as zebras, impalas, elands, buffalos, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi and reedbuck.
