Hwange National Park is the largest and most popular in Zimbabwe, it offers excellent wildlife viewing and most big safari animals can be seen and one of the world’s last great elephants’ sanctuaries covering an impressive 14,650 sq km.
Hwange National Park in northwestern Zimbabwe on the Botswana frontier, it was established in 1928 as a game reserve and as a National Park in 1930.
The iconic Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest national park located in the northwestern part of Zimbabwe. It covers 14,650 square kilometers.
Best Time: July to October (dry season). High Season: June to October (Hwange’s main area can become crowded). Low Season: January to May (some lodges close during part of the wet season). Best Weather: April to September (it hardly ever rains).
Teeming with wildlife, Hwange is Zimbabwe’s largest national park, home to elephant, buffalo, sable, roan, giraffe, wildebeest, impala and even gemsbok. Named after a local Nhanzwa chief, the area was inhabited by San bushmen before being designated a national park in 1929.
With a checklist approaching 500 species, Hwange National Park is a genuine birding hot spot. Fifty types of raptor have been recorded, notably the striking bateleur, which is often seen soaring overhead. Grassland heavyweights include ostrich, kori bustard, southern ground hornbill and secretary bird.
Hwange National Park experiences a warm climate. The warmest months are October to March, while May to August are the coolest. The Dry season (April to October) brings fine weather. Afternoon showers are common in the Wet season (November to March).

On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, you will be met and transferred to Nantwich Lodge, our game lodge in the north of Hwange National Park. The lodge overlooks a large dam boasting one of the best views in the park. Daily game drives and game walks in Hwange are included in your experience.
OVERNIGHT: HIDEAWAYS ELEPHANT’S EYE TENTED CAMP, HWANGE
After breakfast, a road transfer through the heart of Hwange National Park will take you to Elephant’s Eye Tented Camp. The landscape and corresponding bush and wildlife is very different to the north of Hwange and Nantwich Lodge. The transfer is yet another opportunity to experience the diversity of Zimbabwe’s premium park as you will be driven through the national park at a leisurely pace on a game drive. There will be plenty of opportunities to stop at waterholes and secluded Hwange hides. On arrival at Elephants Eye Tented Camp, enjoy a welcoming cocktail and be escorted to your tree-house chalet overlooking a waterhole with an amazing variety of animals coming in to drink. OVERNIGHT: ILALA LODGE, VICTORIA FALLS
Your Hwange wildlife safari comes to an end after breakfast when you will be transferred by road to Victoria Falls. Upon arrival, there is a guided tour of the mighty Victoria Falls followed by a relaxing afternoon on the Zambezi River with a sunset cruise on the Ra-Ikane.
Our exciting Zimbabwe wildlife safari ends after breakfast at your lodge in Vic Falls. You will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport in time for your departure flight.
