Welcome to King Lewanika Lodge

Ker & Downey Zambia’s King Lewanika Lodge is located in Liuwa National Park in the Western part of Zambia, which spans an enormous area of 3,369 square kilometers (1,301 square miles) known as Zambia’s finest grassland safari experience.

 

The lodge is built on the edge of a rare, ancient, forested woodland, on the fringe of the seemingly endless vistas of Liuwa Plain and is ideally located to bear witness to Africa’s second largest wildebeest migration and the park’s diverse array of other species.

 

The lodge architecture effortlessly celebrates the golden hues of the Plain from every vantage point, the spacious, open-fronted main lounge and dining area encourage immersion into one of Africa’s truly wild places, where a forgotten migration defines and drives an entire ecosystem.

 

 

Open Dates from March to December annually, aligning travel for guests with the rest of Zambia’s peak season of travel.

    2026 USD RATES FOR KING LEWANIKA LODGE, LIUWA PLAIN NATIONAL PARK 

     

    These rates are valid from 1 March to 31 December 2026, inclusive.
    King Lewanika Lodge is closed annually, for the months of January & February.

    Park Fees of US$40 Per Person per Night and Conservation & Community Levies of US$135 Per Person per Night should be added to the accommodation rates.

     

    NOTES

    ♦ King Lewanika Lodge is a minimum three-night stay. This is to ensure guests the finest opportunity to explore this remote wilderness and hopefully find the migration on its annual move.

     

    ♦ On each three-night stay, the highly recommended, yet optional, the “Explore all Liuwa” sleep out is included on a complimentary basis.
    A sleep out allows for full day exploration of Liuwa Plain National Park, in near exclusivity and focussing on finding further away highlights and following the migration (if on the move).

     

    ♦ Sleep outs are recommended throughout the year, but are most popular June through October, where the exploration seeks to find the migration.

    Ker & Downey Zambia vehicles have 6 seats and guarantee all passengers a window seat. Vehicles have the capacity of up to seven passengers should groups choose to stay together in one vehicle.

    Our camp is family friendly, providing a family tent, children’s menus, and carefully crafted family activities.

     

    ♦ Minimum age across all camps (and activities) is six years. Child rate applies to children aged six to fifteen.

    ♦ Adult rate applies from sixteen years

    ♦ Private vehicle is not required.

    ♦ Camp managers and guides reserve the right to cancel any activity due to any safety concerns
