Found in the center of western Zambia, Kafue is the oldest and largest of Zambia’s national parks. It covers a massive 22 400 km² / 8 650 mi².
Mostly from July to October – the middle and end of the Dry season. The bush has dried out and thirsty animals head to rivers and waterholes, which makes these the best months for wildlife viewing. The Busanga Plains are off-limits in the Wet season when they are flooded.
Some animals found in the park include Common ones the lions. elephants. buffalo, zebra, hippo, leopards. cheetals and various antelope species like impala, puku, sable, hartebeest, bushbuck, roan and waterbuck and others include the Cheetah which is Rare and the none- existence ones the Giraffe and White Rhino. The endangered ones include the wild dog is also found.
Kafue National Park is a great birding destination year-round. However, the best time is during the wet summer months, from November to April, when migrants are present. At this time, a lot of birds are in breeding plumage as well.
