TRAVEL ADVICE

Ideal for: Eco-Conscious Safari Enthusiasts

The Khwai is home to Hideaways Mogotlho Safari Lodge, a completely off-grid retreat. From a natural pool that becomes a wildlife magnet during the dry season to behind-the-scenes tours showcasing how the lodge operates, it’s designed for travelers who want to leave no trace behind while making a positive impact.

The Khwai River sits between Botswana’s Chobe National Park and Moremi Game Reserve, yet it is far more than just a stop between two well-known regions. Arguably offering some of the best game viewing in Botswana, this landscape is rich with a variety of wildlife, including frequent sightings of rare African wild dogs.

Whether travelers are listening to hippo calls travel across the water to the lodge deck or watching and waiting in anticipation for their next encounter on a walking safari, there are many ways to experience Khwai. But to truly appreciate its scale and beauty, sometimes it’s best to take to the skies above

Good to Know: Prime Concession

Due to its regional position, Hideaways Mogotlho Safari Lodge sits on a prime concession where animals move freely throughout the year. Expert guides lead the way, giving travellers the best chance to witness animals moving down from the Delta or following seasonal routes across the Khwai, all while gaining a deeper understanding of wildlife in their natural habitat and how they respond to Botswana’s wider ecosystem.
