The Ngorongoro Crater, is located in Tanzania-Ngorongoro near Serengeti national park.
June is one of the best times to visit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The ‘long rains’ have come to an end and game drives are relatively less crowded. Peak season for a safari in the Ngorongoro Crater only kicks off towards the end of June or in early July.
Some of the wildlife species found in the park include black rhinos, lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, antelopes, zebras, wildebeests, cheetahs, jackals, impalas, bushbucks, elands, hartebeests, waterbucks, kudu, hippos, hyenas among others.
February is one of the drier months before the rains begin near the end of March in the crater. This is an excellent time for game viewing, especially for predator sightings of lion and hyena preparing to hunt the abundant herds.
Ngorongoro crater is home to numerous bird species, it is a bird-watcher’s paradise with birds ranging from annual migrants from Europe and Asia, grassland birds, sandy-grounds nestling birds, Endangered bird species in Ngorongoro Crater include the Madagascar Pond Heron, Udzungwa Forest Partridge, Sokoke Pipit, Sokoke Scope Owl, others birds found here include turacos, herons, egrets, falcons, woodpeckers and shrikes.
The average daily temperature is about 16 °C (61 °F) from October to April, while it drops to 13/14 °C (55/57 °F) from June to August; at night, it’s a bit cold, and drops below 10 °C (50 °F)
